''Jumping Red signal, A serious Danger'' Campaign launched
Traffic Awareness Branch at Traffic and Patrols Dept has launched a traffic campaign dubbed'' Jumping Red Signal, A serious Danger''. The campaign was intended to raise motorists awareness to the risks associated with jumping red signal.
As part of the campaign, brochures have been distributed to motorists and users of the road. Brochures embodied risks of jumping red signal, particularly speeding to catch the signal before it shifts to red which always result in serious traffic accidents. Brochures also contained penalties for jumping red signal: a fine of AED 1000, confiscation of vehicle for 30 days and 12 black points for light vehicles. As to heavy vehicles, a fine of AED 3000 applies in addition to confiscation of driving license for one year and passing a training session for the retrieval of licence. Major Abdul Rahman Khatir, Director of Traffic Awareness Branch has reiterated that traffic awareness campaigns would be launched continually throughout the year with a view to preventing traffic accidents and protecting lives and properties. He finally urged all motorists to stick to traffic rules.
