In 1971 of raising the United Arab Emirates, according to this the Ministry of Interior was established regarding the new federal system. Further more, H.H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, member f Federal Supreme Council, Sharjah ruler issued a decree to merge all general security and police departments in Sharjah city to Ministry of Interior. In order to perform its duties in Sharjah city area which is and performed and supervised by Director The General Directorate of Sharjah Police nowadays constitutes of several specialized departments in different security and police fields as well as referred units in addition to east region police directorate which consists of Korfakhan, Kalba, Diba Al Hisn cities out the East Coast for the Emirate. In 1995 in accordance to what has been submitted by Sharjah Police, the Cabinet has approved the decision No. (3)of the year 1995 to upgrade the Sharjah Police to be a general directorate to include nine qualitative departments , accordingly in 1996 Sharjah Police was rearranged ( which became Sharjah Police General Directorate) as per ministerial decision No. 498 of the year 1996 that led to a qualitative shift in police organization, duties and work style. It has been modernized to meet the contemporary changes of its era assuming the burdens of security and safety sustainability that the emirate used to enjoy since its early times. On the other hand the police may take benefits from the latest methodologies to undertake its responsibilities of facing modern styles of crimes that recently spread out. |
