Police research centre affiliates directly to the Director General and includes four branches:

Branch of communication
Scientific research branch
Branch of Publication
The centre also has a main unit for preparing and publishing (al Fikr al Shuriti) refereed magazine. The Centre carries out the following:
To arrange a complete information database controlling the organization, operation and its
production.
To follow up crimes' indexes and response extent.
To carry out the necessary policing, security and social researches and studies as well as the operating studies according to the need and contribution with all possible methods to enrich policing ideology including the works of arbicization and translation.
Designing and holding scientific forums, symposiums and conferences dealing with policing and security problems and participating in the same held by the concerned bodies inside and outside the State
To strengthen the ties with the similar centers of research studies inside and outside the country.
