Sharjah Police Arrests Suspects Involved in Social Media-Related Assault

By Ohood Suleiman Al Naqbi

Sharjah Police’s Criminal Investigation Department arrested several Asian nationals involved in a violent altercation that resulted in the death of one person and injuries to another of the same nationality. The incident stemmed from a dispute that began on a social media platform before escalating into a physical confrontation involving a sharp weapon.
The case came to light after the Operations Center received a report of a fight involving several individuals outside a shopping center in Sharjah. The altercation left two people with stab wounds inflicted by a sharp object.
Specialized teams immediately responded to the scene, while National Ambulance crews transported the injured individuals to hospital for treatment. One of the victims later succumbed to his injuries.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the dispute originated through exchanges on a social media platform before escalating into a face-to-face confrontation. Following the report, police teams launched intensive search and investigation efforts and successfully identified and apprehended all those involved within four hours of the incident. Legal procedures have since been initiated against the suspects.
Sharjah Police stressed the importance of resolving disputes through legal channels and avoiding aggressive behavior or calls for confrontation on social media platforms. The force reaffirmed that the law will be firmly enforced against anyone who threatens community security or endangers the safety of others.
The public was also urged to act responsibly when using digital platforms and to report any content or behavior that promotes violence or disrupts public order by contacting 901, helping maintain the safety and security of the community.
