Sharjah Police arrested a truck driver who obscured his vehicle’s plate with mud to hide its identification and evade traffic monitoring and enforcement systems. The arrest forms part of Sharjah Police's ongoing efforts to address behaviors and traffic violations that compromise the safety and security of road users.
The violation was detected through Sharjah Police's advanced traffic monitoring system, which covers the geographical jurisdiction of the Emirate of Sharjah and relies on surveillance cameras, traffic detection systems, and modern digital technologies. The integrated system enabled the vehicle to be identified and tracked, allowing specialist teams to initiate field investigations and follow-up procedures that led to locating the vehicle and apprehending its driver.
Further investigations revealed that the driver had intentionally covered the registration plate to use roads where the entry of heavy trucks is prohibited, in clear violation of the applicable traffic regulations. The necessary legal procedures were taken against both the driver and the vehicle in accordance with the relevant laws and regulations.
Sharjah Police affirmed that attempts to obscure or cover vehicle registration plates or avoid traffic systems will not prevent offenders from being detected and apprehended, in light of the advanced monitoring system. Sharjah Police stressed the continuity of monitoring roads across the emirate and taking firm action against behaviors that endanger road safety.
Sharjah Police urged drivers, particularly heavy-vehicle drivers, to adhere to designated routes, timings, and road restrictions applicable to their vehicles, and to comply with traffic laws and regulations, thereby helping reduce violations and traffic accidents, enhancing road safety, and protecting all road users.
