The Sharjah Police announced its readiness for the 2026–2027 academic year through an integrated traffic, community, and media plan that involves several relevant departments and strategic partners. The plan aims to enhance students' security and safety, celebrate their return to school, ensure the safety of road users, and maintain smooth traffic flow around schools.
The announcement was made during a meeting chaired by His Excellency Major General Ibrahim Musabah Al Ajal, Director General of the General Department of Comprehensive Police Stations, in the presence of His Excellency Major General Staff Omar Al Ghazal Al Shamsi, Director General of the General Department of Operations and Security Support, Brigadier Faisal bin Nassar, Director General of the General Department of Community Prevention and Protection, as well as several deputy directors general and department directors. During the meeting, work plans and objectives were reviewed. At the same time, readiness and coordination levels across all departments and strategic partners were discussed to ensure integrated operations, unified efforts, and enhanced security, safety, and happiness for students as they begin the new academic year.
His Excellency Major General Ibrahim Musabah Al Ajal affirmed that student safety is among Sharjah Police’s top priorities, noting that the plan is based on proactive coordination and the integration of roles among various departments and partners. This approach ensures that preparations meet the requirements of the back-to-school period and provide the highest levels of safety for students, parents, and educational and teaching staff.
The plan encompasses an integrated operational framework. The Traffic and Patrols Directorate will intensify patrols at key locations, roads, and intersections surrounding schools, and regulate vehicle movement during peak hours to reduce congestion and ensure smooth traffic flow.
In terms of operational readiness, the Operations Center Department is enhancing its preparedness by improving the efficiency of its incident and emergency call-handling system, monitoring field developments, and maintaining direct coordination with relevant teams and entities. These measures will facilitate a rapid response to incidents and reports received during the back-to-school period.
To enhance school transport safety, the Vehicles and Drivers Licensing Department will intensify inspections of school buses to verify their readiness and compliance with safety and security requirements. This will be accompanied by awareness programs and initiatives targeting drivers to reinforce adherence to procedures for the safe transportation of students to and from school.
On the community front, the Community Security Department will conduct a series of field visits to schools, including welcoming students at the start of the academic year and delivering awareness lectures and programs designed to promote safety concepts and positive behaviors while instilling the values of responsibility and cooperation among students.
On the media front, the Security Media Department will launch the “Our First Lesson Is Safety” campaign as part of a comprehensive media plan targeting students, parents, and road users. The campaign will feature diverse awareness content across Sharjah Police’s digital platforms, along with media coverage of accompanying programs and initiatives, to extend the reach of its messages to different segments of society and promote awareness of safe practices and behaviors throughout the academic year.
The plan is also supported by strategic partnerships with the Sharjah Private Education Authority through the “Ma’man” service, which enables school bus drivers and supervisors to send an alert directly to the Operations Center in emergencies at the touch of a button from inside the bus, while instantly transmitting the bus’s location. This enables rapid intervention and the deployment of the nearest field patrol to respond to the situation, further enhancing student safety during journeys to and from school.
The Sharjah Police called on parents, drivers, and road users to cooperate with field teams, comply with traffic instructions around schools, and call 999 for emergencies or 901 for non-emergencies and inquiries. It reaffirmed that student safety is a shared responsibility and that responsible road behavior helps provide a safe and stable school environment for everyone.
