Through the swift response and readiness of its specialized teams, Sharjah Police General Command successfully recovered a vehicle reported stolen after it had been left running. The vehicle was located and returned to its owner within just two hours of the report, following prompt search and investigation efforts that also led to the arrest of the suspect.
The incident took place on the evening of Thursday, 24 September 2026, when the Operations Centre received a report from a woman stating that her vehicle had been stolen. Specialized teams immediately launched field investigations, while the suspect was referred to the police station for the completion of legal procedures.
Sharjah Police warned that leaving a vehicle running, even for a short period, can create an easy opportunity for theft and is also considered a traffic violation. It stressed the importance of following preventive measures to safeguard vehicles and personal property.
Motorists are urged not to leave their vehicles running while stepping away to visit shops, petrol stations, ATMs or other locations. They should also ensure that no valuables are left inside, switch off the engine and make sure all doors are securely locked before leaving the vehicle.
Sharjah Police also called on members of the public to contact 999 in emergencies and 901 for enquiries and non-emergency cases.
