Sharjah Police, represented by the General Department of Prevention and Safety, achieved significant results in strengthening occupational safety and health and the business continuity framework across the Emirate of Sharjah by the end of the third quarter of 2026. These achievements included a 21.6% reduction in workplace injuries compared with the same period in 2025 and broader compliance with approved requirements and standards, helping protect lives and improve workplace safety.
The results showed a decline in workplace injuries across all severity levels. Minor injuries decreased by 40.2%, moderate injuries by 13.3%, and serious injuries by 18.3%, reflecting the impact of preventive, regulatory, and awareness-raising efforts in reducing workplace risks.
Major General Dr. Ahmed Saeed Al Naour, Director General of the General Department of Prevention and Safety, affirmed that these results reflect the integration of field inspections, training, and awareness initiatives. He noted that the department focuses on embedding a culture of prevention among establishments and workers and strengthening compliance with occupational safety and health standards.
He added that the department’s programs aim to build organizations' capacity to manage and respond effectively to risks, while enhancing preparedness to ensure the continuity of business operations and vital services under all circumstances.
As part of efforts to strengthen compliance with the Sharjah Occupational Safety and Health System, the department registered 476 new entities by the end of the third quarter of 2026, collectively employing 26,129 workers. This has expanded the implementation of preventive requirements across establishments.
The department also strengthened its field presence by conducting 795 audit and inspection visits to establishments in the construction and industrial sectors, along with 1,603 proactive visits to support establishment registration for mandatory training.
In preventive training and safety awareness, the department delivered 29 awareness workshops benefiting 14,401 people. It also organized five courses under government entity safety initiatives, with 49 entities participating and 105 beneficiaries. Mandatory training efforts covered 406 establishments, with 5,838 workers registered for training at the Salama Preventive Training Institute.
On business continuity and compliance with the National Standard for Business Continuity Management Systems issued by the National Emergency Crisis and Disasters Management Authority (NCEMA), the department conducted seven exercises and qualified and trained 1,473 business continuity team members. An additional 28 government entities participated in a plan to ensure all entities achieve 100% compliance with the standard’s requirements for 2026 and 2027.
The department continues to develop an integrated framework encompassing prevention, inspection, training, awareness, incident response, and business continuity. These efforts support a sustainable, safe working environment and strengthen organizations' ability to protect personnel and continue delivering services efficiently, thereby contributing to quality of life in the Emirate of Sharjah.
