Sharjah Police Launch Awareness Campaign to Combat Begging During the Holy Month

The General Command of Sharjah Police, represented by the Security Media Department in cooperation with the Anti-Begging Committee, has launched its awareness campaign titled "Begging is a Crime, and Giving is a Responsibility. "The initiative aims to raise community awareness about the risks of such negative practices and protect the safety and stability of society.

The campaign will continue until the end of Eid Al-Fitr.
This initiative forms part of Sharjah Police's ongoing efforts to address and curb harmful behaviors that surface during the holy month. Among these are begging and the spread of street vendors in residential areas and shopping centers. Some individuals attempt to take advantage of the charitable spirit and generosity that characterize Ramadan in order to gain money through unlawful means.

Sharjah Police stressed the importance of community vigilance, urging members of the public not to tall prey to manipulative tactics used by beggars who exploit people's compassion and desire to help others. The Police also called for active community participation in limiting such practices, emphasizing that social responsibility is a shared duty.

Members of the public are encouraged to direct their donations through official channels, including government-approved charitable organizations and associations. Sharjah Police further urged residents to cooperate with law enforcement by reporting any cases of begging immediately through the toll-free number 901.
