Sharjah Police Seizes 60 Tonnes of Fireworks, Vows Continued Campaigns to Protect the Community

Sharjah Police has seized 60 tonnes of fireworks found in the possession of several individuals as part of its ongoing efforts to enhance public safety and curb dangerous practices that pose risks to community members, particularly during festive seasons and official holidays.

Brigadier Ibrahim Musabah Al Ajel, Director General of the General Directorate of Comprehensive Police Stations, explained that the operation was carried out following careful monitoring and extensive surveillance. Authorities were able to identify the locations of those involved in promoting and selling fireworks illegally. The seized quantities were prepared for unlawful distribution, and legal action has been taken against the suspects, who have been referred to the Public Prosecution.
Al Ajel stressed that the random use and promotion of fireworks represent a direct threat to public safety, as they can lead to injuries, accidents, noise disturbances, and damage to property.
Sharjah Police urged community members and parents to comply with applicable laws and to raise awareness among children about the dangers of fireworks. The public was also encouraged to report any violations by calling 901 for non-emergency cases. The force reaffirmed that awareness and inspection campaigns will continue to limit such behaviors and ensure the safety and security of the community.
