Sharjah Police Seize 8 Vehicles for Reckless Driving During Rainfall

By Hessa Saeed

The Traffic and Patrols Directorate at the General Command of Sharjah Police has seized eight vehicles after their drivers were caught performing reckless stunts on the roads during last week’s rainfall, putting their lives and the safety of other road users at serious risk. Legal action has been taken against the offenders.

Brigadier Khalid Mohammed Al Kai, Director of the Traffic and Patrols Directorate at Sharjah Police, explained that such irresponsible behavior exposes individuals to legal accountability and turns moments meant to be enjoyed in pleasant weather into dangerous situations. As a result, several serious traffic violations were recorded.

Among the violations was driving in a manner that endangers the driver’s life and the lives of others, in accordance with Article (1/A) of the Federal Traffic Law. This offense carries a fine of AED 2,000, 23 black points, and vehicle impoundment for up to 60 days. Another violation involved driving a vehicle on the road without number plates, which, under Article (4) of the Federal Traffic Law, results in a fine of AED 3,000, 23 black points, and vehicle impoundment for up to 90 days.

Sharjah Police reaffirm that adherence to traffic laws is a fundamental pillar in protecting lives and property, and that safe driving reflects a high level of community awareness. The public is encouraged to cooperate by reporting any practices that threaten road safety. Reports can be made by calling 999 for emergencies and critical situations only, and 901 for non-emergencies, reinforcing the principle of community partnership in creating a safer traffic environment.
