As part of its Knowledge Management Plan in the emergency, crisis, and disaster management field, the Sharjah Police, represented by the Readiness and Resilience Department, implemented a specialized knowledge program on Emergency, Crisis and Disaster Management in collaboration with the Sharjah Sports Council and sports clubs across the emirate. The initiative forms part of Sharjah Police's ongoing efforts to strengthen institutional integration with strategic partners, unify collaborative efforts, enhance institutional performance, and maximize the effective utilization of the capabilities and resources available across the Emirate of Sharjah.
Colonel Mohammed Majid Ghubar Al Shamsi, Director of the Readiness and Resilience Department, stated that the program reflects the Sharjah Police’s commitment to embedding a proactive approach based on knowledge, integrated planning, and effective partnerships that contribute to strengthening readiness and enhancing coordination and response capabilities in dealing with various emergencies, crises, and disasters.
Colonel Al Shamsi emphasized the vital role played by the sports sector in the Emirate of Sharjah and highlighted its significant achievements, as well as the diversity of its disciplines and programs that serve different age groups and segments of society and contribute to developing individuals and enhancing both their physical and intellectual capabilities.
He pointed out that the program relies on a series of specialized knowledge workshops and field visits conducted in cooperation with partners to identify available capabilities and resources, benefit from practical expertise, and strengthen field coordination among the relevant entities. These efforts contribute to faster response times, more effective incident management, and operational continuity.
The program also addresses the emergency, crisis, and disaster management system concepts and the related organizational and operational frameworks. In addition, it highlights several successful cases and practical experiences in managing emergency incidents, facilitating knowledge transfer and transforming it into institutional practices applicable across various sectors. This, in turn, enhances preparedness and readiness while contributing to the sustainability of the safety and security system in the Emirate of Sharjah.
