" The documented foundation of Sharjah Police, initially named the Police and Public Security Force, dates back to 1967. At that time, the Ruler of Sharjah, His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, may God rest his soul, issued a royal decree to establish the force. In its early years, the force operated as a local department directly under the Ruler of Sharjah and was supervised by the Chief of Police and Public Security, a position held by His Highness Sheikh Saqr bin Mohammed Al Qasimi. The position of the General Commander of Sharjah Police was assigned to Brigadier Abdullah Jumaa Al Suri.
