The Sharjah Police, represented by the Vehicles and Drivers Licensing Department, continues its efforts to enhance student safety with the start of the 2026–2027 academic year through the “Safe School Transport” initiative. The initiative aims to ensure that school buses are fully prepared and compliant with security and safety requirements, contributing to safe journeys for students to and from school.
The initiative is being implemented in cooperation with strategic partners, namely the Sharjah Private Education Authority and Tasjeel, an ENOC Group company, as part of an integrated approach among the relevant entities and unified efforts to strengthen preventive measures and enhance the efficiency of the school transport safety system.
Lieutenant Colonel Dr Marwan Obaid Al Naqbi, Head of the Vehicle Inspection Section at the Vehicles and Drivers Licensing Department, stated that the initiative reflects Sharjah Police's commitment to applying the highest security and safety standards for school transport and to ensuring its readiness ahead of the new academic year. He also commended the cooperation of strategic partners and relevant entities and their active role in supporting efforts to provide students with safe school transport.
Lieutenant Colonel Dr Marwan Al Naqbi explained that the inspections cover several key security and safety requirements for school buses. These include ensuring that the “STOP” sign is functioning properly, inspecting tires to verify their safety and roadworthiness, and ensuring that first-aid kits are available and seat belts are in proper condition. These measures help ensure that school buses are fully prepared to provide students with a safe and secure transport environment at the start of the new academic year.
