Sharjah Police General Command has marked a new milestone by meeting the ISO 26000 international guidelines on social responsibility, reflecting its commitment to adopting global best practices that support sustainable development and strengthen its community role in ways that enhance quality of life.
The achievement reflects Sharjah Police’s continued efforts to embed social responsibility across its policies and strategic priorities and translate them into initiatives that respond to community needs while promoting social stability and cohesion. These efforts also align with the objectives of the UAE’s Year of the Family, which seeks to strengthen family bonds and support the stability and well-being of families while encouraging positive engagement and participation across all segments of society.
Brigadier Faisal bin Nassar, Director General of the General Department of Community Prevention and Protection, said that meeting the international guidelines reflects Sharjah Police’s approach to making social responsibility an integral part of police work and turning it into practices and initiatives that deliver a lasting impact.
He noted that the achievement further strengthens the link between institutional performance and community engagement, in line with the aspirations of the Emirate of Sharjah and the wider strategic direction of the United Arab Emirates.
ISO 26000 provides a framework for strengthening institutional performance across the core areas of social responsibility, including organisational governance, human rights, labour practices and environmental responsibility. It also promotes greater community engagement and supports continued improvement in the quality of services provided to customers.
