As part of its ongoing efforts to enhance operational readiness and strengthen the physical fitness and mental focus of its personnel, Sharjah Police General Command, represented by the General Department of Resources and Support Services – Sports Activities Section, organized the first edition of its Athletics Championship, with the participation of 65 personnel.
Participants competed in the 1,500-metre, 800-metre and 400-metre running events. The championship provided an opportunity to assess participants’ performance levels and identify promising athletic talent capable of representing Sharjah Police General Command in Ministry of Interior championships and other upcoming sporting competitions.
Lieutenant Colonel Matar Salem Al Rashdi, Head of the Sports Activities Section, stressed that physical fitness is a key pillar in the physical and mental preparation of police personnel. He noted that it enhances their ability to carry out field duties effectively, while mental readiness supports concentration and faster response.
He added that organizing the championship serves multiple objectives, including developing the capabilities of personnel, promoting positive competition, and identifying outstanding athletes to represent Sharjah Police General Command in various sporting events.
The championship concluded with the honoring of first-place winners in recognition of their outstanding performance, bringing to a close a competition in which participants demonstrated a high level of discipline, physical readiness and mental focus.
