As part of efforts to strengthen community partnership and reinforce concepts of social responsibility, Sharjah Police, represented by the Department of Community Prevention and Protection, organized a training workshop titled “Community Voice” in cooperation with the Islamic Affairs Department in Sharjah. The initiative comes within the joint efforts of both entities to enhance community security and raise awareness and security consciousness among members of society.
The workshop was attended by His Excellency Dr. Issa Saif Ahmed bin Hanzel, Chairman of the Department of Islamic Affairs and Endowments; Brigadier Ahmed Mohammed Al Marri, Director of the Community Prevention and Protection Department; and a number of personnel from both entities. They emphasized the importance of such qualitative initiatives in strengthening cooperation and serving the community.
The workshop aimed to introduce participants to the “Community Voice” program as one of the community initiatives designed to engage members of society in supporting the security system by identifying and reporting undesirable negative phenomena through professional methods that contribute to swift response and mitigation of their impact, thereby enhancing quality of life and community security.
The workshop included training participants in field monitoring mechanisms, how to prepare and write reports on community observations, and in developing their security awareness. It also introduced the mechanism for using the electronic system of the “Voice of the Community” program to ensure smooth communication and the organized and effective submission of reports and observations.
Brigadier Al Marri affirmed that the “Community Voice” program embodies the concept of social responsibility and strengthens community members' role as partners in maintaining security and stability. He noted that cooperation with the Department of Islamic Affairs in Sharjah comes as an extension of the existing partnership between both sides and stems from the vital role played by mosques and their visitors in promoting positive values and reinforcing community awareness, as they are among the groups closest to the various segments of society present in residential neighborhoods and suburbs.
He added that such workshops contribute to building bridges of communication with community institutions and to activating their role in supporting security and preventive efforts, in line with the Emirate of Sharjah’s directions to strengthen social cohesion and achieve a safe and stable environment for all.
