Sharjah Police Launches Anti-Drug Awareness Campaign to Promote Community Awareness

By Mariam Hamad Al Junaibi
Sharjah Police, represented by the Directorate of Anti-Narcotics and Prevention, has launched a month-long anti-drug awareness campaign in cooperation with the Security Media Department and strategic partners, including Sharjah Islamic Bank and City Centre Al Zahia.
The campaign aims to raise public awareness about the dangers of drugs and psychotropic substances, strengthen a culture of prevention, and protect community members—particularly young people—from the risks associated with drug abuse.
The initiative forms part of national efforts to combat drugs by expanding awareness programs and preventive initiatives that promote early intervention and reinforce the role of families, educational institutions, and the wider community in protecting future generations and building a safer, more informed society.
The campaign features a variety of awareness activities and educational events, including social media outreach, community-focused educational programs, and the distribution of awareness materials designed to encourage positive behavior, strengthen social responsibility, and reinforce the community’s rejection of drug use.
Sharjah Police emphasized that addressing drug-related issues extends beyond law enforcement to include preventive, humanitarian, and treatment-focused approaches. The primary goal, it noted, is to protect individuals, support their recovery, and help them return to safe and stable lives.
The force encouraged anyone seeking advice, support, or treatment to contact the dedicated hotline at 8004654, assuring the public that all cases are handled with complete confidentiality and care. Authorities also continue to provide support services that assist recovery, reintegration, and relapse prevention.
Sharjah Police called on community members to actively engage with the campaign and benefit from its awareness messages as part of its ongoing commitment to preventive initiatives and community programs that protect young people, strengthen security and stability, and contribute to building a drug-free society.
