Sharjah Police has concluded its drug prevention awareness platform, held under the theme “Protecting the Individual, Safeguarding Society,” in collaboration with City Centre Al Zahia. The four-day initiative attracted strong community engagement and a remarkable turnout from visitors of all age groups, welcoming more than 10,600 visitors. The high level of participation reflects growing public awareness of the importance of drug prevention and the success of the awareness campaign in reaching its target audience.
Brigadier Majid Sultan Al Asam, Director of the Directorate of Anti-Narcotics and Prevention, stated that the platform’s outcomes demonstrate the increasing level of community awareness regarding the importance of drug prevention and underscore the effectiveness of its awareness messages in reaching diverse segments of society. He noted that the strong public engagement reflects the success of preventive programs in promoting a culture of prevention and reinforcing the principles of shared community responsibility in combating the drug menace, thereby contributing to the protection of society and supporting national efforts to build a safer and more informed community.
He explained that the platform featured a comprehensive package of awareness and educational programs, interactive activities, and audiovisual content designed to raise awareness of the dangers of narcotics and their adverse effects on individuals, families, and society. The initiative also educated visitors on preventive measures and the procedures for reporting drug-related crimes. In addition, visitors benefited from the Traffic Black Points Reduction Initiative, which helped attract a broader segment of the community and enabled awareness messages to be delivered through innovative and interactive approaches.
Brigadier Al Asam further affirmed that Sharjah Police remains committed to continuously developing its preventive initiatives and establishing effective partnerships with various institutions to maximize the impact of its awareness campaigns and strengthen community awareness. These efforts are aligned with the organization's proactive prevention strategy, its commitment to enhancing quality of life, and its mission to reinforce community safety.
As part of the accompanying activities, Sharjah Police, in cooperation with the Sharjah Sports Council, organized an awareness marathon at City Centre Al Zahia, attracting wide participation from people of different age groups. The event highlighted the importance of sport as a healthy lifestyle that promotes physical and mental well-being, encourages positive behaviors, and helps protect young people from risky behaviors, particularly drug abuse.
The Military Band of the Sharjah Police Sciences Academy also delivered a musical performance as part of the platform’s activities, while visitors continued to benefit from the Traffic Black Points Reduction Initiative throughout the event.
The awareness platform concluded after presenting a comprehensive model of preventive education through a series of interactive programs and activities that enhanced public awareness of the dangers of narcotics and reinforced the concepts of prevention and shared responsibility. The initiative supports Sharjah Police’s ongoing efforts to build a safer and more informed society and reaffirms that prevention remains the first line of defense in protecting individuals and safeguarding the community.
