Issue 232

Issue 232 - October 10, 2024 Corresponding to Rabi' Al-Thani 7, 1446 AH

This book comes from joint work between the Sharjah Police Research Centre and Sharjah University about a crucial topic with dangerous dimensions for the individual and society. It also addressed the causes of drug abuse among youth, demonstrated the risks by presenting the results of previous studies, and identifying the reasons for drug use among the youth sample in the correctional and penal institution in Sharjah, addicts, and people convicted with judicial decisions through the preparation of a questionnaire including 104 young people. The study included an interview with 12 drug abusers of both genders. The study found a series of results, notably: The study showed that most drug abusers are either single or divorced, which amounted to 88.6%. The main reason for psychological drug abuse was feelings of emptiness and boredom, with a total of 86%.
So came the launch of building trust policy between the drug abuser, his family, and society, and to not be described as shame on his family and society. That included a general framework for the proposed policy and rehabilitation programs.
