Sharjah: A Cultural and Safe Haven...

Major General Abdullah Mubarak Bin Amer

Sharjah: A Cultural and Safe Haven

Several years ago, in 1989, Sharjah was chosen as the Arab Cultural Capital. A few years later, it was crowned the Capital of Islamic Culture. These honors were not coincidental; rather, they were the result of relentless effort and dedication. Since the early 1980s, Sharjah has been synonymous with books and culture, becoming a hub where authors, creators, publishers, intellectuals, and poets from across the Arab world—and even beyond—gather. For all these individuals, Sharjah is a destination where they showcase their cultural achievements and express their intellectual and creative ideas.

The emirate has always been and continues to be a beacon of cultural exchange, a bridge for talented writers, and a model for promoting culture and knowledge in all its forms, whether traditional or digital. This is evident in its annual hosting of the region’s largest cultural event for books. Sharjah Police’s continuous participation in the Sharjah International Book Fair and other cultural and community events stems from its commitment to engaging with all members of society. This participation reflects the futuristic vision of a modern and advanced police force with strategic goals aimed at strengthening the relationship between the police and the public. It also enhances community awareness by showcasing the services provided by Sharjah Police, contributing to enriching visitors’ knowledge in security-related matters. As temperatures drop and the weather improves, many people seek leisure and relaxation in open desert areas. We urge visitors from within and outside the emirate to adhere to regulations that ensure their safety and allow them to enjoy a pleasant and meaningful time.

Let us work together, hand in hand, to ensure a safe winter free from accidents, security violations, and environmental or traffic infractions. Together, we can achieve more milestones and aspirations. Let’s make Sharjah a safe and happy model for all to follow.
